RWM Bro John Anderson was featured in the Ferry Fair programme: > You might recognise me as John Anderson the Electrician, or perhaps as the bagpipe player, but you may not realise I became a member of Lodge St Margaret in 1991. I was eager to uncover the mysteries of what many perceived as a "secret society." It didn't take long for me to realise the extensive support Freemasonry offered to charitable causes, both locally and nationally. This newfound awareness empowered me to contribute to community initiatives on a local scale, as well as participate in larger endeavours such as supporting organisations like CHAS and Prostate Scotland. My membership of the Lodge has mainly been in two key spells. From the time I joined I was a committed member helping with various responsibilities. Subsequently, I took a break due to work and other social commitments. Circumstances allowed me to return to full commitment from 2000, and become a pivotal member of the Lodge; I was ultimately elected as Master in 2018. It was an honour to be re-elected as Master of the Lodge in a significant year in the Lodge's history as we celebrate our 150th anniversary. >The official celebration was on the 11th of May, with a rededication ceremony in the Lodge, and a celebration dinner in the Rosebery Hall. To commemorate this milestone, a small committee dedicated to the arrangements for the anniversary was formed. Our key aim was to leave a legacy of community involvement. Freemasonry's charitable efforts often happen quietly, as we work in the background to provide benevolence and charity to worthy causes. In a world of social awareness we've started to promote our activities, and are proud to be financially supporting 25 local charities and organisations this year. With 33 years of membership in the Lodge I can offer guidance and support to our newer and future members, assisting them to actively contribute to society. > >Lodge St Margaret - a cornerstone of our community!
